Recovering objects from XPacks

Postby zaxxon » Sun Nov 07, 2010 2:18 pm

It is possible to easily "recover" objects from BTB XPacks, keeping uv texture mapping.

I have created an Octave script that converts all the objects from a XPack to .obj format. I have imported them with Blender without problems. I find the procedure really simple if I want to remap an object or fix it.

You need Octave and http://www.mediafire.com/file/3e8lcc5nnil6w64/x_obj2.7z

Extract the downloaded files to a folder (i.e. c:\temp), open Octave and run:
> addpath('c:\temp')
> cd xpack_base_folder
> process_xmls

Output files will be located inside Objects folder of the XPack.

This is an object I created, recovered from the XPack:

this is a great aid! There are very good xpacks out there and to get objects in max we waste precious time. Thanks for sharing
